December 2014 – Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR)

Posted: December 11, 2014

A Message from Your Industry Representative,

It’s hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the year. It’s been a very exciting and eventful year for the profession and 2015 promises to be a very important year as well.

Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR) 2015 will be critical for us to come together and communicate the needs for the sustainability of the national child nutrition programs. It is imperative that we support our SFAs in this most strategic time.

The SNA Position Paper will be released in early 2015 and will be available on SNA’s website. The Position Paper reflects the Association’s top legislative priorities and will serve as the roadmap for SNA’s 2015 CNR efforts. It will also provide the foundation of flexibilities that school nutrition programs so desperately need. Additionally, SNA and members will advocate for these positions to Congress, USDA and the Administration during the 2015 Legislative Action Conference’s (LAC) Charge to the Hill and throughout the reauthorization process. Your attendance and voice at LA C in March will be more important than ever. We look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C.

In January, the School Nutrition Industry Conference (SNIC) will be held in Phoenix. The agenda is a result of the feedback and requests received after last year’s conference. The topics are spot on to your needs and will provide that next level of education that we all starve for. The regular registration deadline has been extended to Monday, December 15, so there is still time to join us in Phoenix. Please register today!

I want to take this time to thank you all for your vote and confidence in electing me as your Industry Representative until August of 2017. I challenge each of you to consider the possibility of running for this very important position in the fall of 2016. The need for solid, professional leaders has never been more critical. If anyone has any interest or questions pertaining to the position, please reach out to me. I am more than happy to assist.

In closing, I thank all of you for your passion and support for the betterment and health for the children of America. You play such an important role. I wish you all a very happy holiday and all the best for an amazing 2015.
